WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION? Need opinions!

Question

I wanted to hear some opinions/ experiences from you lovely ladies!
Okay, so today is day three of a really painful swollen mouth, due to my wisdom tooth. This morning even my lymph nodes had started to swell! Luckily I got into the dentist today. There is an infection, and a cavity in that tooth. He is worried the infection has traveled deeper into the root/nerve (I can't remember which one he said). And he prescribed on Amoxicillin and Vicodin for the time being. (Approved by my OB)

Anyways, he gave me a referral to an oral surgeon to have my wisdom teeth pulled?! He wants to have them pulled now, rather than wait- but also wants to know what the surgeon thinks.

I am so nervous about having them pulled while pregnant, because of the anesthesia.

Obviously, I will talk to my OB in the coming days, but in the meantime- just wanted to know if anyone else has had this done while pregnant? What were your experiences?

It's fine we remove teeth on pregnant women all the time at my office. It's more dangerous to have a chronic infection while pregnant than to have anesthetic

I'm a dental assistant for 17 years.  The infection is causing you, and the baby, more harm than the anesthetic used to extract the teeth.  Get them pulled out!  I'd be more concerned about the vicodin than the Lidocaine they will use during the procedure.   Anesthetic will be local to your extraction areas.  Narcotics are systemic.  And don't worry, the dentists do this allllllll the time.

I didnt have wisdom teeth extracted while pregnant but I had to have my gallbladder removed. I was so scared but they reassured me that anesthia is perfectly safe.

I didn't have my wisdom teeth taken out pregnant BUT I had an easy experience. I went to a doctor who fully knocked me out because of the impacted teeth. When I woke up I was pretty clear in the mind. The only thing is, I naturally suck any spit in my mouth while I sleep. This caused me to have dry socket in all four holes because the clots never stayed. The doctor gave me a bunch of plastic syringes with aloe and clove to fill in the holes to relieve the pain. After it was pretty much smooth sailing. You need to rinse the holes throughout the day, I don't know how easy that would be with an infant but it's doable.

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled a few years ago, they gave me something to relax but not to actually put me to sleep. I ended up sleeping through the whole surgery on my own. With just oxygen in my nose. I think another option is just a numbing shot but that's up to the surgeon working on you. Your case might be harder because of the infection.
