The bull and the girl.
You probably heared of the statue of a little girl that was put in front of a huge bull installation that's been all over the news, yes?
The artist behind the Charging Bull is upset because Fearless Girl was installed. He says it's "violating his rights". He had made the bull as a symbol of resilience after the stock market crash and was supposed to be positive. When the girl was installed his bull basically became a symbol of sexism, for this I can sympathize with him. Imagen how annoying it would be to have something you made with the intent to be positive and spark hope on others be altered in a way that changes it's symbolic meaning to something completely different and negative.
The artist behind Fearless Girl said she sympathizes with him, but dismisses it as "Times are changing". On the flip side, once art is out there, it's out there. It's subject to change, longevity or elimination. Any artist knows this.
How do you feel about this situation? Do you sympathize with the creator of Charging Bull (Arturo Di Modica) or Fearless Girl (Kristin Visbal) more?
