Any long distance veterans?

Question

I've been dating my boyfriend for 6 months now. We met at college, and soon we will be parting ways for the summer because I live out of state. Everything has been going so well, and I would like to continue building up our relationship even though we will be almost 1,000 miles away.  Anybody who has had long distance relationships have any advice for us??

Skype at least once a week! It becomes very easy to get lazy with just texting...skype makes it more real!
I also like to book regular (as possible so every 6-8weeks) trips to see each other so we both have a focus and a countdown goal we can get excited about!
It sucks at times but is definetly worth it xx

Been in a 2.5 year long distance relationship, currently engaged and closing the distance this summer :)

Make sure you talk with your partner about your needs. It took a while to find a compromise for the amount of time we text/talk on the phone/Skype...we eventually fell into a good schedule/pattern.

And yes, scheduling your next visit is a great way to keep your excitement up and have something to look forward to!

I was in a long distance relationship for 4 years. We used Skype and FaceTime a lot to keep things more personal and to...ya know...
We also sent gifts every once in a while, just to keep things going. Or Id write a letter and spray it with my perfume. We never told each other about the gifts beforehand so they were always little surprises. Sometimes it was a sweater, a card, jewelry, chocolate etc. He loved to send me pressed flowers.
It takes willpower, trust, patience, and creativity but it can work!
