How long does it take for a negative test after a chemical pregnancy?

I had my first ever BFP last week, then heavy bleeding 2 days later, which lasted for about 3 days and 2 more days of spotting. I'm assuming it was a chemical pregnancy. But I took a pregnancy test again just to see if my cycle was getting regular yet and I got a positive. Could I still be pregnant? How long does it take to get a negative test? I'm thinking the hormone is just still in my system, but I was only a couple weeks along, so I would think it would flush out quickly.
