Ladies that didn't use the epidural

I give birth in less than 30 days and I am wanting to try and go without any medicine at all if possible. No pitocin, no epidural. I had a dream last night that I went into labor early and it hurt like hell so I passed out through the entire birth and missed the birth of my son. I woke up and asked if he was born and my husband said yes you were passed out. I am just wondering if that really happens to some people? I don't want to use the epidural if I don't have to, but I don't want to miss anything due to pain or passing out. So for any women that didn't take the epidural can you tell me your birth story?
