Sertraline & false positives? 😔😕

Ok. I was diagnosed w/ anxiety BEFORE getting TWO positive pregnancy tests after stopping for 2 days (I was taking it for a month).

So here's the story.

My LMP was March 12, 2017, and had sex on March 27, 2017 (Day 16 of 27). I was taking Sertraline for 1 month starting around the beginning of March. I noticed I wasn't PMSing as usually so, I looked online, and discovered that Sertraline CURES PMS!! So, I'm like "ok then!"

So! I was preparing for my BFF's birthday weekend so I STOPPED taking the meds 2 days before b/c I was going to be drinking alcohol. Ok! So, I'm packing a bunch of pads, Advil PM, and a heating pad 😂🤣😅 only to MISS my period. I took 2 pregnancy tests:

& they're POSITIVE! I've been off the meds now for 9 days so, I'm pretty sure the drugs are out of my system. Yes, I plan to take another pregnancy test today.

But my question to you is: Does Sertraline cause false-postive pregnancy test? Does Sertraline contain HCG?

Nope, it wouldn't cause a false positive. Congratulations!

You shouldn't start & stop sertraline though. Not sure if you're planning to take it while pregnant, but if so, just take it as directed.

I've been on sertraline for years and had a true positive with my first and now my second. Didn't continue my medicine with my first pregnancy, but I am taking it throughout this pregnancy. It is safe.

It's zoloft which does not contain hcg.
