Does that string on a ring thing work for predicting pregnancy and gender?

My boyfriend held a ring on a string up to my tummy to see if I was pregnant and it usually doesn't move but last time it did it started moving in circles. I took a test but it came out negative and he thinks maybe my hormone levels might just be too low to detect on a test right now. Has anyone else tried it and if so how did that go for you?

I did it to myself with my first. It said boy...she's a girl.

I also did it to my post menopausal mother, my father and two male Boston terriers 🤣 it's just a silly game. It's got a 50/50 chance of being right.
