How did you know you have PCOS?

Just curious about those of you who have been diagnosed with PCOS, what were some signs/symptoms you had? Husband and I have only been TTC for about 6 months after having the nexoplanon fr 2.5 years, but I just have a sneaking suspicion that I may have PCOS, I don't know why!

I always read about SUPER heavy periods and painful cramping, but I actually have the opposite. Very light, short (2-3 days) periods and virtually no PMSing or cramps. I've always been a bit heavy, but in the 4-5 years I've gained a significant amount of weight and CANNOT lose it. I've read weight gain/trouble with loss can be a sign? I'd just love to hear other people's experiences!

It's different with everyone. I got my period at 12 and from the start my periods were BAD. heavy as all get out and long. Then I would get them every other month. Then every other 2 months. Then I stopped keeping track. Got to the point where from when I was 16-18 years old I only ever had one. Finally at 18 went to the Dr and got diagnosed. Within those years I gained A LOT of weight. Girl I mean like 75 pounds. All from PCOS. That's the biggest side effect from it. And hair loss and even unwanted hair growth. Best bet is if you're curious go to your OB. it's a little discouraging at first but then you get on things like metformin (which I couldn't take cause girl when they say it gives you the poops, they aren't joking) and can just help you out. When I was first diagnosed I wasn't ttc so she put me on bc and said when I want to I have to get off and hurry and try. Going on bc calms all your hormones and calms your ovaries and gives them a break. I've been off bc now for about 7 months and ttc for 6 and nothing.. I'm about to go back and ask for help with fertility. If you do have it, don't let it get you down! Best of luck

I've diagnosed with it according to my period, it was very light and lasts only for 2-3 days but it's super regular like clock work, also I have little bit facial hair, doctors confirmed it by ultrasound and high testosterone. I believe that as long as you have regular period, you don't have any problem to conceive. Good luck.

I had a doctor suggest that I had pcos when my period stopped entirely. She put me on the pill and after I went off of it to ttc my cycles got longer and longer until it stopped again. I have a small dark spot between my breasts, lower face breakouts, and difficulty losing weight but the symptom most obvious to me was the blind rage I'd feel over relatively small things. Since I started on Metformin I've felt a lot more level and more like myself. It's supposed to help limit the amount of testosterone your body produces. Hope this helps!

I have PCOS and a friend of mine had almost the same symptoms as you( shorter periods, not as heavy) and thought that she possibly had PCOS as well.....it turned out being hypothyroid.

With me I didn't get my period every month and I had polyps in my uterus that I had removed. After they did all the test they confirmed it and was able to help me conceive my first daughter. Aftervthatvi was able yo get pregnant on my own twice. I have a 7 year old Thur injectable and iui , a 4 year old after weight loss surgery with no help and pregnant now 27 weeks with no help.

Pcos has a lot more to it than no being pregnant in 6 months.... needs to be diagnosed by a doctor
