son gagging/choking on saliva?

My son is 2 months old and is drooling like crazy now. There's been at least 3-4 times that he has gagged and basically hiked in his own spit. It's like he doesn't know whether to spit or swallow it. It's really scary when it happens. I have a dr appt in a week. I think he may have a bit of reflux from what I've been reading. Anyone else had any issues with this? Trying to find some peace of mind.
