sleep training methods?

What are some gentle sleep training methods for a 4 month old?

I don't know if there is an actual name to this method but I've read a lot of different sleep training methods and advice and for me this one sounds the most gentle.  I've only just started so I don't know if it's successful or not but it makes the most sense for us.

I recommend going on the baby sleep site to read up about sleep training. I didn't start until my daughter was around nine months old. We used the Ferber method with progressive timed checks. Worked like a charm.

I think it's easier at 6 months.
