What are some solutions for our justice system instead of the death penalty?

Name some ideas that would be a better alternative to the death penalty that would be very affective.

Answer

I would have a military rehabilitation program for nonviolent offenders to work off restitution, provide for their families, and try to make their lives better instead of serving time in prison. I would be also interested in this as a "good behavior" option for some violent crimes based on circumstances. They could apply for the actual USA military after they served their time and they would have the chance to recover their career opportunities. 
   
   
I believe that would free up resources to make prison for violent offenders more of a permanent assistance program for learning about violence and learning to treat illnesses with violence as symptoms. 
   
   
I don't believe in death row, it is not cost effective, it is illogical, and there are too many errors in our justice system for every case to be accurate.

Better mental health programs for those who need mental help, not prison.

Better post-prison programs for those who get out but can't leave their lifestyle for 1,000 different reasons.

Rehabilitation sentences vs. prison sentences for drug related crimes.

Hopefully making room for those who shouldn't get out.

Also... Why should a pot dealer get 20 and a rapist get 5? Ugh
