Don't know how to take this....

My dad keeps telling me everytime we have a conversation that it's soooooo much money to have children. (Yes I know this). He also keeps telling me that I should wait 5-6 years before I have kids, note that I am 23 years old, but it's my choice do what I want. I don't know how to take this. I think since his gf keeps telling him that she's what's grandchildren and everyone he knows is getting pregnant, he don't want me to get pregnant.
