How to tell my mother I have a boyfriend?

I'm currently 19, moving to college in August and I'm in a bit of a long distance relationship. My boyfriend lives about 2 hours away and he wants to take me out for my birthday next month but I have no idea on how to tell my mother I'm dating someone! We've been "talking" for 8 months but I'm so nervous about introducing him to my mom. My parents have always been strict about me and boys which is why I haven't really been in many serious relationships or introduced a boy to my parents. The only time I have was with a guy I was interested in that my parents already knew about because he played basketball at my brother's school. Anyways, any tips? I'm really wanting to be honest instead of sneaking around with him because that's just childish to me at my age!
