Gender blood test?

I read you can get a blood test to find out the gender as early as 10 weeks.  Does anyone know if this is true?  I'm too excited to wait for sonogram when it eventually appears!

Answer

It's called "NIPT" non invasive prenatal testing. This test (blood test) can detect certain type of chromosome abnormality and baby's gender as well. It's usually covered by insurance if you are qualified such as over 35 yrs old or high risk pregnancy. Ask your doctor about NIPT and she will tell you all about it. Mine is scheduled for 10 weeks. I know there's blood test to find out the sex but that's usually done for women that are high risk. I'm sure it's super expensive as a just because test.
