Bipolar Depression...?

I keep seeing on TV about this medicine for Bipolar Depression...Is there really such a thing as Bipolar Depression...What is it? Please I need info.

Bipolar is ups and downs (hence the bi-), so when a person with bipolar disorder is in a depressed state it's bipolar depression. Because bipolar depression is part of an entirely different illness, it is different than other kinds of depression and so there is different medication for it.

From what I understand it's bipolar, but it's the depressive part that is "out of range". Since it's manic/depressive. The manic part isn't the part that is causing the major problems basically.
