what should I do?

I'm 17, I'm failing school, & I work but my mom wants to stop working so that I can focus on school but I really don't want to because I've been supporting my own self and it feels good to be able to buy the things that you want and need without having to ask your mom or anyone else. I often don't wake up for school on time and but I rush to get out to go to work and I tell her it's because I'm getting paid and she says school will allow me to get a better job or career and I understand that but I still want to work... she wants me to put in my 2 weeks notice but I don't want to. I just need some advice really

Education is more important at your point in life. Education will get you farther than your current job. Just my opinion. I'm almost 30 and still in college because I stopped going to college at 21.

I did 1 1/2 years and then quit school to get married and work as a nanny. At 26 I realized my mistake and enrolled in my nearby college. Now I'm 28 and have one more year to go. But it was the best decision to go back and I regret putting everything else in life ahead of my education.

Well, yeah work right now is awesome. You earn a decent week salary and get minimal deductions. YET, down the line is it really going to keep allowing you to buy what you want? Or is it going to go down the toilet paying bills that your parents pay. Ask your mom about the cost of electricity, water, gas(if used), rent or house payments, ask about food, phone, cable,Netflix, etc. Anyways get all those bills you have probably never seen and add them up. Calculate the money you make a month and compare them. Can you afford all of those expenses? Will the money you make now be enough? Would it allow you to keep buying what you want? Probably not. Right now your parents pay for that (usually anyways), eventually though you will want to move out and be on your own. Then all of those expenses become yours. 
So actually school pays off in the end, by getting you a better job. 
College may not be for you, and that's okay. Now a days however many jobs require a high school diploma to employ you full time, and with benefits. Oh yeah add medical fees to costs of living. 
So even if you don't do college, a high school diploma may be enough for a descent paying job that helps you cover most of these expenses. GO TO SCHOOL

How many hours are you working? Maybe you can cut back on hours until you pick up grades?

Why not cut back on work? Do it on the weekends and maybe one day during the week so you can get school done or if you don't won't to do school your 17 get your ged. It doesn't take long and then you could stay working and be done with school.

Focus on school. You have plenty of time to be an adult! It's not all it's cracked up to be while you are in high school.

Well you really need to focus on school, because if you don't you will always be working a 9-5 job & you you want that. Your mom is only telling you what she knows is best for you, I know it may be hard, because you may feel older people are always telling you what you need to do or what you should do, but they have already been there and she's looking out for baby girl & you don't see that now but you will. Focus on school baby girl, it don't last long and you would be thankful for it. I'm sure you don't have that much longer, it goes by fast!
