If you are no longer with your child's father how often should he call to check on the baby?

I'ts been nearly two weeks and he hasn't called to check on in our 8 month old!! I think that's wrong. What do you guys think? By the way he is several states away. The last time we spoke we argued and I think that's why he is not calling but I feel like he can still call to check on his daughter

Also he was supposed to send me $300 to help with daycare but hasn't sent anything and won't answer when I call! I'm tempted to go file for child support but it will be an interstate case! He would be livid as this is his3rd baby and I'm his 3rd baby mother and he hasn't been on child support! He normally helps but since this fight he just stopped calling and answering my calls! Should I just give him space or just go file?

My ex has gone 11 months with no contact before, then he comes crawling back wanting his visitation talking about how he's their father blah blah. So I let him have visits, he was irresponsible, now he can only visit when they're with his mother and she won't even let him stay the night with them. He will not contact me about them for weeks and then finally message again, rinse and repeat. It's been over 2 months right now. If it was me that didn't have custody, I'd be calling to check on my children AT LEAST once a week, if not more like every evening wanting to talk to my kids. And I'd damn sure not skip a visit EVER. I'd say anything more than going 2 weeks without contacting the child shows that the child isn't their number 1 priority  (unless they are deployed or something).

My sons father has him 50% of the time. If he wants nothing to do with your child I would get something in writing through the court.

My ex picks our kids up every other weekend. And the weekends he don't see them he sends money for their school lunches and stuff they want.

Omg he doesn't do child support ... that man is leaving babies left and right and getting off scot free! You should definitely file. If he's being shady over $300.08 months in, what do you think the rest of your life with is going to be like?

My ex husband gets our daughter anywhere from every 4-8 weeks for a day or two and never tries to get in touch with her any time in between. 
You can't make them do what you think is right or not, now matter how hard you try it's their decision to make the effort or not. You just do what you need to for your child and be there for them.
