I was having a conversation with my friend and she was talking about a friend of hers who was in a very abusive relationship and she refused to defend her self because her hands are certified and consider deadly weapons. Would you risk it and possibly go to jail for defending yourself or would you allow someone to hit you and threaten your life.

I know the optimal thing to do is to just leave, but apparently the friend doesn't want to because there is a child involved, that isn't her bio child, that's why it's not an option.
