thoughts on used baby items?

Question

I'm just curious what all you ladies think about getting secondhand items for your baby? I understand there are certain things that you for sure want to buy new, like car seat, bedding or special outfits... but being a mom of three already I know that there are just some items you barely use and are in still like new conditions that  can save a ton! My husband disagrees with me and thinks everything has to be new 🙄
Any thoughts?

I LOVE shopping consignment and looking at yardsales for baby and kid items. Some of the things i buy at my consignment store (once upon a child) still have store tags on them! I bought a $15 carters shirt for $2.50 at OUAC. 
There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying clothes, toys or baby gear second hand as long as it is in good condition and safe for baby.

I am pregnant with my first and all my siblings saved all their baby stuff for me. I'm all set with used crib, change table, infant car seat (not expired!) , stroller, breast pump, baby monitor, diaper genie, diaper bag, pack and play, and so many other stuff! I honesty could care less if it's new or used. My baby will not be using all this stuff for long. I'm only buying clothes, crib set and baby toys. I'm so thankful that I will be able to save money and put it aside for later use for this child!

Second hand is the way to go!!! Save money and get everything you need instead of splurging on one or two brand new items. Even baby clothes I get second hand at kid consignment stores and even good will. I always make sure it's in working and good condition before I buy and it's worth it

This is my third baby and I can tell you hands down used is the way to go. We spent so much money on our first and she hardly used any of it. I go to yard sales and find GREAT deals with barely used clothing. I love being thrifty. I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem buying used honestly. Just throw it in the washer.

You eat on dishes other people ate on at restaurants and sleep on sheets other people slept on st hotels they get washed and are fine!! Same with used stuff as long as you wash and sanitize you're fine

I'd say go for it! I'm like you, this is my third and the most important thing to me is financial security. There are certain things I will buy new like car seat, crib mattress, some clothing. I actually already bought some furniture for the baby(used). It's and older wicker set from pier one, and I painted a light gray. It came out better than anything I could afford brand new. And it is something that I put my time and energy into to create, which makes it more special.  I also have and older glider chair that needed some tlc. I reupholstered it into some really nice fabric I got at Walmart. The nursery still has some work but it is coming along.

It's great.  We got a mamaroo for super cheap from Craigslist and as the last one got older we found some larger toys for him.  We just got him a swing set for $60 and a log cabin that goes outside for free from OfferUp.  The pack and play we bought new and the crib and mattress and car seat.  So we had mostly new stuff with some bigger purchases that were used.

The only thing I insisted on being new is the crib and dresser. I'm in love with it and its made really well, rather expensive, and will convert and last a while. Everything else I'm good with used! My cousin just sold me a swing/bouncer combo, pack and play, bassinet, 3 boxes of different sized leftover unused diapers, an infant car seat with two bases (never wrecked and not expired, she used it until the day before she gave it to me, she decided to transition her 6 month old to a convertible carseat), lots of car seat canopies, blankets and clothes, a regular bouncer, high chair, an extra crib with mattress for grandmas house and a stroller. Everything is from the same graco collection, it's less than 2 years old, no rips or stains and in like new condition.  She only wanted $150 for everything. I'm almost done baby shopping!

I'm pregnant with baby #3....I'll be using mostly used baby items. Some stuff I've saved, some from family and friends. The only think I'll be buying new is the car seat since the one I have is expired.

This is our first baby and we will be buying a lot of our stuff second hand. I grew up wearing clothes from Goodwill, yard sales and my sisters hand me downs. I don't mind it at all and it's what's normal to me. We will probably buy one brand new outfit to bring baby home in (hubbys special request) but I know everyone feels differently about this topic.
