Do you have to buy shoes for a newborn?

This is dumb but I honestly don't know, are there shoes that are for newborns? What do they wear when they are born? I had already bought a bunch of little socks but I feel like there should be something else they can wear, or that isn't necessary? I'm a FTM due in June! Thanks ^^

They do make shoes but they are not necessary at all, unless maybe little boots in the winter to keep their feet a little warmer. I just stuck with socks and started using shoes around 10 months. I don't think you need them till the baby starts walking but I wanted him to get use to them before that point

Huge waste of money. We really didn't start buying shoes until DD was almost walking closer to a year.

I had some people get me little nb shoes to match an outfit they got her. They're soft shoes, I don't even know if they'll fit her. But I didn't buy them so oh well I have them maybe I'll use them maybe not.

When my son was born 13 years ago we were advised only to put shoes on kids when they begin to walk. Badly shaped shoes can damage the soft bones in their feet. We just used soft fabric shoes like slippers yo keep their feet warm. I've no idea about the advice now.

My pediatrician said no shoes until the baby can clearly walk, it's better to be barefoot or with socks or knitted booties if cold

They sell them but they're not nessecarry. I put shoes on my little boy a few times. But make sure you get soft bottomed ones until they're walking.

They do sell them but I never put them on her. I bought a few pairs to decorate her nursery though. Just socks should be good enough.
