Would you date someone you barely know?

I'm asking because my best friend is in a rough place, trying to straighten her life out and just got into a relationship with someone she's never told me about. So me being me I asked her if he has a car, a license, a job, does drugs, is going to college,  etc. And her response to me was let me get him to open up to me. I don't know much about his story. I'm sorry what? You're dating someone when you don't know general things about them? Am I just being crazy or what?

True dating is about getting to know someone so I don't see the problem... And even though you are her friend, her life is honestly none of your business. It's her life and you should be there for her, judgment free.

Where I live, "dating" is used to refer to couples in a relationship. Idk, I think it's weird to date someone you don't really know that well 🤷‍♀️

But I'd also be the type to know someone for 5+ years and find excuses as to why I can't date them so 🤷‍♀️
