IUD strings

Today was the last day of my period, first month with my IUD. My period started out extremely heavvy and stayed that way until about noon today and abruptly pretty much stopped. My IUD strings can barely be felt outside my cervix. Normally they are a little longer. I could feel the opening and I could barely feel the tips of my strings. I go back to the doctor on the 3rd to be sure everything is In the right place but I just want to be sure for now that nothing is seriously wrong. I had a lot of cramping on the first and second day of my period but haven't had any today or yesterday. No pain at all really! Could it be too far inside me? Is that even possible?
