I dont understand how this is racist!? As a black woman, I feel like we are getting to a point where we cant say anything without being called racist, bigots, shamers. My biggest problem is people throwing the term "bullying" around. Do you agree?

Comparing someone to food (or drink) is objectifying and dehumanizing and usually gross white guys say it to the black/Latina etc women they fetishize.

First, off he should have kept his mouth shut. When you come out of your face saying things like that you are a racist and bigot. Hands down! The color of her child is irrelevant to what she has brought to the game of tennis. She is #1, and she is happy. Leave her the fuck alone. Damn assholes!

I agree that there are a lot of times when people have unnecessarily been told their comment is racist but this not one of those times. As an 8th month pregnant WOC (my husband is white) someone has said such a comment to me. It hurts. It hurts that someone would rather ask me how "chocolatey" they think my baby would be before asking the gender or how I'm feeling. I always smile and brush it off but if I were white no one would compare my unborn son to food. I completely understand it wasn't meant to offend but it's still not acceptable IMO.

It's disrespectful to talk about women athletes for their physical attributes or sexual organs. The comment was inappropriate regardless. I bet they would never be caught making comments about the size of a black athletes penis or the sexual frequency of a man with a lot of children.

There are different degrees and level to racism. You don't have to hate POC to be a racist. The comment was offensive and racially charged. He referred to an unborn baby as food, as a guess to the baby's complexion based on the parents. Not only was that offensive, but it was unnecessary, unprofessional, and it can be seen as racist as it is dehumanizing to the family. I'm surprised that anyone would ask if this was "really racist", especially a person of color.

I think it's the whole "chocolate with milk" part. As seen on another post on here. Some POC are offended by their complexion being compared to food.

People may hate me for this. But honestly. I think it just depends how they say it lol. I don't think they meant it to be offensive. I don't find it that bad as some people are making it out to be. Black girls get called chocolate, that's not a problem? Just the color. Carmel for people that are Carmel. It's not a bad term. Chocolate and Carmel are actually good. So I wouldn't mind being called one lol. Maybe they were referring to milk chocolate. Like a lighter color. Mixed. Idk. I just don't find it all that offensive. In my opinion🤷🏾‍♀️
