Hormonal Imbalance due to Yaz
I was on birth control Yaz (generic, Gianvi) for approx 8 years. Decided to stop in November 2014. Ever since I had horrible burning, stinging, raw feeling around vulva/vaginal area! Saw two gynos. With no help. They thought I was allergic to something. Finally after tons of research I found a specialist in Maryland. I saw him last week. He told me Yaz is one of the worst birth control pills. (None are good per him) it caused me to have a hormonal imbalance. It literally shrunk my clitorus. He said it shrinks within 3 months of taking the horrible stuff. I had no idea! He is extremely knowledgable in this field. (Has done numerous research studies etc) He also said I have hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction which is causing painful sex / urinary problems. I have to start physical therapy for that. As for the burning / rawness he prescribed a compound gel of estrogen and testosterone. I just started using this on Saturday. Haven't noticed much yet, feels irritated but he said that's to be expected. I am just curious has anyone else had this horrible nightmare happen to them?? The doctor said it is not uncommon, it won't happen to everyone but happens to a good percentage if you started BC before age 18.
