Golden Hour tips?
So, I'm planning a home birth in July and I really like the idea of having that uninterrupted first hour of holding baby boy skin to skin, establishing a bond, and getting the first feed in. This is all done in "The golden hour" which I'm sure you have heard of. If not, basically it's what I explained. Providing mom and baby are healthy, Mamma holds baby on her bare chest, skin to skin, for an hour immediately following birth. All checks are done while baby is on the mom's chest and any measurements, shots, etc. are postponed until after that hour or so.
My question is, if you have succeeded in this, what did your husband/father of the baby do during this time? I want to have that hour, but I don't want my husband to feel left out or like I'm "hogging" the baby.
Please tell me how you handled it or plan on handling it. Or, if you don't plan on the hour of skin to skin, just any advice you might have? Thanks everyone! 😊
