Should I use family name that I hate?!

Elle
So the male line in my husbands family contains a horrible middle name- apparently it goes back through first born male for centuries. They have no reason to lie but I'm very cynical about this part. My husband of course has this middle name and so if we have a boy, his family have already mentioned the fact that this name will be used. It doesn't matter what it is but I REALLY hate it! To compound the issue, husband has a double barrel surname, I only took one when we married in 2015, which happens to be his mother's. So I threw away fathers surname....can I throw away this middle name of his? Break the tradition forever? Or does that make me a bad person? I just hate that they could have a say over this, that they could force me to bestow a name I hate on my child. For the record, husband completely understands, but is laid back about it so wouldn't mind. Argh!!X
