Endometriosis help

Okay so I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now with no luck. My doctor is pretty sure I have endometriosis and so am I. I've had awful periods since I was 16 and painful sex as well. Not to mention a ton of other symptoms, were working on scheduling surgery but my question is has anyone else had the surgery, did it help and how soon after surgery can I try to get pregnant?
