LEVOTHYROXINE takers???

well, i got put on levo about 2-3 weeks ago.  i thought i started my period (2 days late), and i've been spotting for 4 days, no regular period.

anyone have this issue or any problems with levo and periods!?  i'm 34!

I had exactly the same happen to me. Had mmc at 10 wks in Jan 2016, a very early one at 3 wks in Jan this year and refered for fertility testing in April. I put on a lot of weight after having an ovary removed 9 years ago when i was 30 which i couldn't shift & despite liking naps, being forgetful, skin and it being a running joke amongst friends about how many layers of clothes i wear (amongst other things!) i never thought i might have hypothyroidism. Bloods came back as borderline (3.5 i think) but dr wants it to be below 2.5 before treatment. 
Was prescribed 50mcg levothyroxine on the 28th May and started spotting a few days after starting the course for 4 days. Af hasn't arrived yet and no sign of lh surg since and 4 negative pregnancy tests. Last af was 24th May with cycles usually 24 days. 
I checked in with the fertility clinic last week but the dr and midwife said levo shouldn't disrupt my cycle like that but it should regulate it (despite what i have read here about it disrupting it) had more bloods done on Monday to check thyroid & progesterone, just waiting for my results tomorrow. Still waiting on either af or lh surge too. Bit confused now as the clinic are adament that its not the levo disrupting me but its too much of a coincidence.

Low thyroid can cause irregular bleeding, but if you're taking the med the level will sloowwwly rise. It takes about 4 weeks for the med to affect the lab value. I'm an RN and thyroid cancer survivor, Levothyroxine is like my life ugh LoL! Tip, you have to take it first thing in the morning and you can't eat anything for 30-60 minutes or it messes with the absorption and you end up with less of the hormone.

Just make sure they watch your bloodwork until it levels and don't ttc until it is level.  As soon as you get a positive, call and get bloodwork immediately to make sure it's right.  I've been on it since October.  Was pregnant February until April.  Had a D and C.   Had to up my levels from 50 to 75.  Endocrinologist said to Lee it at 75 Bc right before my d and c  my tsh jet creeping up higher and they didn't like it.   Fingers crossed it helps me drop some weight here through the next 6 weeks until my period decides to come after the d and c.  Hurry up time to get through this cycle

Yes it did for me, I complained to my Dr when I stopped ovulating to begin with and he said wasn't the medication. Then no period, followed by another no ovulation and another no period. Dr said it wasn't the medication but I could come off it if I wanted 3 days later got my period and normal cycle resumed xx

Yes it jacked with my periods for a while until my overall hormones stabilized. I don't remember how long that took as I was 23 when diagnosed I'm now 33 yrs old!

Nope, that's not a med that will interfere with periods. Been on it for 14 yrs. many different doses because I have hoshimoto and it changes a lot.
