baby clothes question ?

Ok, I'm going crazy over what size clothes and how many outfits they will need the first few months. Newborn fits babies only up to 8 lbs, then it seems 0-3 mos fits 9-12 lbs, how quickly will baby grow? How many outfits will she need? And how the heck do you prepare when you don't know how much the baby will weigh?

My son was in newborn clothes for about 3 weeks. He dropped a pound within the first 3 days but gained it back about a week later. Just remember some babies do drop some weight when they're born and you might actually need newborn clothes. I'd buy at least 15 onesies. Don't take off tags till you know they'll be used though.

Carter's and their affiliate brands as well as Cat and Jack and a few others have actually changed their newborn size to go from 6-9 lbs! Places like gap and old baby are still only up to 8lbs. If you buy nb, I suggest the brands who have changed their nb sizing. They are able to use the clothes longer and it doesn't seem like such a waste. Just remember if you buy 2nd hand, they are probably up to 8 lbs since they just switched sizing within the last year.

Only get a few new born things. The baby's growth will surprise you and if you buy a lot you will have a lot of outfits with tags. Have some newborn outfits to take baby home in. You have to go off your baby more then sizes. You will find that different brands fit bigger or smaller. I would say but more 3-6 month clothes

Buy about 10 nb, and don't take the tags off until baby is born. If baby is under 8lbs you may need to buy a few more, if baby is over, just return them. Babies gain close to 1lb a week for awhile. Just depends, my daughter was 6lb0.9oz at birth and came home at 5lbs13oz, then at her two week check up she was over 6lbs again. By a mont old or so she was in 0-3 months and some larger nb stuff. The makes of the cloths pays a big role. Just buy 10-15 of everything, and add more as needed.

Following out of curiosity. I know for a fact we have overbought for our daughter (we also have tons of handmedowns from my sisters daughter). I've been told to take a newborn outfit and a 0-3 outfit to the hospital for when they're born in case they're too big for for newborn stuff!
