Can't decide which spelling.
I need some help here. A little background;
Our families are Spanish and Portuguese. The name we have picked is Elijah.
In Spanish and Portuguese, Elijah translates to Elias. This is what he will be called 80% of the time. We hardly know anyone who speaks only English, and we ourselves prefer Elias.
That being said, I'm worried about how Elias may sound stranger in English.
Bottom line, we are torn between his official name being Elijah (which he will only ever be called 10% of the time, but is easier for English speakers) and Elias.
Of course, in reality, he's mostly going to be called Eli, but I wouldn't put that on the birth certificate. Any help is greatly appreciated.
