Anyone else annoyed with name suggestions?

Question

I like to have a mental list of names and then decide a day or two after baby is born and we get to spend some time with them. It makes the naming process really intimate.

My SIL keeps asking me what I'm thinking of for names and I just don't even want suggestions or input on what I choose. I just can't stand the opinions and "advice" and suggestions.

SIL isn't mean or anything, just overly enthusiastic that I'm having a girl (she has a girl) and it drives me bananas when people get involved in what I consider intimate decisions between myself and my husband.

So, I politely told her (again) that we have a list of names we are considering and will meet the baby and decide on a name and let her know when we have chosen. Sigh.

Anyone else going through this?

Yep! We're not telling anyone our name choices until Baby is here. Before the baby's born, it's so easy for someone to say "Marvin! That was my uncle's name, and he was a drunk!" And then, boom, you have forever named your baby after your coworker's girlfriend's drunk uncle. 🙄 But people are much less likely to say stupid things like that when the baby is actually here, a real human, and the name is set in stone.

With my first we decided the names(a boy name and a girl name) before we found out the gender because we wanted to be prepared and announce with gender. When we found out and told my MIL, she said "yah..I'm not calling her that. You're going to change your mind 100 times. I'm calling her bean." 🙄😂  our daughter is now 25mo old and her name hasn't changed. 
People just suck 😂

We have a name picked but we aren't telling people. I'm so sick of people begging us to tell. Wait people. You have 10 more weeks it won't kill you not to know. My sister in law is the worst about it. She keeps sending me name suggestions because I "must not be proud of the name if I won't share"

I'm annoyed with people in general. When you're pregnant everyone suddenly has an opinion on every aspect of your life.

Usually when people ask for names I throw out some names that we liked, but didn't make the cut.

People are so rude and opinionated, I just don't want someone raining on our parade.

As it is people have scrunched up their noses or tried to push names of their choice on us. 
I can't stand it, but I'm too polite to scrunch my nose up at their suggestions and tell them to buzz off.

We had a name decided but then hubby said he didn't like the middle name. So while out of town visiting family for my baby brother and his wife's baby shower, everyone kept trying to suggest middle names....we did finally decide on one though. And I am not changing it again lol

I am!!! We have a couple names but don't want to tell anyone before she's born. We want to see her little face and then decide. People...mostly MIL and other family...keep demanding to know the names and then when we don't tell them they suggest dozens of names. It's getting very annoying. Thankfully I'm getting close to the end!

Yes! A few on DH’s side of the family are taking it a step beyond name suggestion and outright saying, “Baby’s name will be x” or telling other people “We’ve already named the baby x” 🤦‍♀️ My SIL continued pushing a name on me stating, “It resonates with me and it’s an echo of my best friend’s recently deceased grandmother” after I politely told her thank you but it’s just not a name I like.
The naming process is especially fun, intimate and personal for first time parents! Unless asked, no unsolicited name advice or name pushing please and let the soon to be parents enjoy it, thank you!

My grandma HATES the girl's name we've picked out (don't yet know what we're having) and honestly suggested the name 'Katana', which is apparently a Scottish girl's name. It's also a sword. :|

Some people don't realize they are being rude. I don't care for the name my sister gave her daughter but I wasn't going to tell her that. We don't know what we are having yet and honestly we really haven't even thought of names. I am actually going to play this name game at my baby shower that will give everyone their chance to pick our child's name.
