Cytotek to induce?

Question

I'm being induced in a week, and my doctor is prescribing me Cytotek the night before to ripen my cervix. The only time I've heard about this medicine was to induce my miscarriage. I'm a bit worried, and can't find many articles about it. He said it was best to start with that to make the induction go smoother and prevent a c section. Has anyone had this method used on them?

The articles I did find said it worked well and had minimal complications. Hoping that it's true!

It works for some, doesn't work for other. And like any medication you can have an allergic reaction to it...I would opt out of an induction unless there's a medical necessity.

That was used for my induction on February 28. I was also pumped full of pitocin to help contractions and had my water broken on March 1. I had a 35 hour labor and pushed for 5 hours. My son was born on March 2. Cytotek can go either way. You can have an uneventful induction or a really crappy one. It's all luck.

All it does is open your cervix. I had to use it before my iud. Freaking worst. Cramps. Ever. But now I'm 5 weeks lol so we'll see ;)

I was induced with it, they tried 3 doses between 12 hours and it didn't do much for me. I only dilated to 2. 
So they tried cervidil, and within one hour my water broke, and I was in active labor. And had my baby 3 hours later. But with the cytotec I didn't have any complications it just didn't work well for me 😊 everyone's different though! So hopefully it works well for you!

It opens  ur cervix, thats  why early on it induces  a miscarriage /abortion since cervix should be closed.
