Mirena? Help.

Question

I have extremely bad periods, bleed for months, heavily, type. I was considering Mirena as a birth control (I have implanon at the moment). Did it hurt getting it put in? Have you had any issues? Down side? Up side? Opinions? I'm just not sure.

The hormonal IUD is a great option for many women, but the first couple months after insertion are often accompanied by irregular bleeding and cramping. This is normal, but many women are unprepared to deal with it, so make sure you're aware that may occur for several weeks afterward. Also, if you decide to get an IUD, make sure you find an experienced physician that has inserted an IUD previously. Not every doctor knows how to do it, but if the insertion is done properly, it should be safe and comfortable. IUDs are one of the most common forms of birth control worldwide, but like everything, there are risks. Some women have experienced uterine puncture, but this is highly unlikely in comparison to the total number of women with IUDs. Do some research and figure out if it's for you.

I had mirena. It's not worth it. There's more side effects and slot of people end up with it moving where it shouldn't

I have mirena and I love it. Its been in for 4 1/2 yrs now. It was a little uncomfortable getting it put in at first with some slight pinching but nothing too horrible. I had some spotting for a couple days afterwards and it took a few months for my cycle to regulate but once it did I could predict to the day when it would start. Plus the mirena is a low hormonal BC so it works for me. The only thing I had an issue with was the wire had to be shortened cuz my SO could feel it during intercourse.
