tounge and lip tie?

so i found out my son has a tounge and lip tie..ive read that you can get it snipped so it doesn't cause speech problems or gaps later on. I ebf and his doctor said he's gaining weight fine so shes not concerned . she said she'll keep an eye on it and if at 18 months it affects him we'll talk to the pediatrician dentist. has anyone gone through this where they were told to wait or leave it be?! i see so many people say they got it clipped . i may get a second option from a different pediatrician
