This is creeping me THE F*CK OUT!
I know this isn't pregnancy or period related, but I'm hoping that someone, ANYONE, has advice of any sort. (WARNING - long)
My husband and I moved into his university's 30 year old family housing apartments a little under half a year ago. Before we could move in we had to get the carpet replaced because of mildew and a huge red stain in one of the bedrooms. The stain looked like someone spilled a full glass of wine and never bothered trying to clean it. Since moving here we've heard random noises of things moving in our house.
My Razor in the shower has fallen into the tub at least 4 times. It has a base that was securely suction cupped to the wall and it's never fallen before. It stuck to the shower wall for 2 months straight then fell, I fixed it, a few days later it fell again, and a few days later again, and another few after that it fell again. I stopped putting it on the wall because it got annoying.
Our fridge has no ice making abilities (the top 1/4th of it is a freezer and the bottom 3/4 is a refrigerator. It's old as heck. It randomly makes noises that sound like ice falling in an ice maker of a more modern fridge.
I have dishes in our sink constantly (no dishwasher, and yes I do do the dishes constantly) and I'll be sitting on the couch nursing my son and I'll hear the sound of utensils being dropped into the sink, or some dish knocking into some other dish (making a big "clink" sound). Like the dirty dishes need to find a more comfortable position or something. 😑
We have a spot for recycling (next to our trash can) in our kitchen and a few things have ended up moving. For example; I put a milk jug that was empty in the pile of recycling, and later that night the milk jug "fell" off of it's very secure placement onto he floor at the base of the fridge, which was 3 feet from where it originally was.
And then there's tonight.
I was in the middle of nursing my son in his room and my husband texted me, telling me that he saw a white thing drop from on top of the flowers that are in the middle of our kitchen table. I was like "is it a bug?" "What was it?" And he told me that it was the scrunched-up napkin that he used during dinner. It was floating above the flowers and dropped when he noticed it out of the corner of his eye. It hit the flowers and landed on the table in a different spot than it was in before.
The fact that he saw the napkin FLOATING AND THEN DROPPING FREAKS ME OUT! I was joking with him about ~having a ghost~ because of the other things that've been happening around the house (specifically the milk jug) and I nicknamed every noise I heard as "kitchen ghost". Nothing ever happens whem I'm directly in the area that the noise is coming from, but tonight the napkin thing happened with my husband.
I'm officially freaked out.
I want to move but it's not possible with our current financial situation.
*UPDATE* - I'm geting some mixed infrmation from you ladies on what to do. Some of you say talk to it, ask it to leave, others say don't talk to it or acknowledge it's presence. Some of you say bless the house, others don't. With all the conflicting answers I don't know what to do 😓.
*UPDATE 2* - Yes, I know the razor falling was most likely due to gravity or poor suction. Yes, I know that old fridges make noises. Also, please don't badmouth my husband, he hates pranks and would never prank me, plus his face was white as a sheet when he was telling me about what the napkin did. He was freaked out more than I was.
Also, another more violent thing happened. I was cleaning off my son's food tray for his high chair and didn't have enough room in the sink to set it down, so I put it next to me leaned up against a counter and made sure it wouldn't be able to fall, slip, or slide. I turned away from it to wash something else and all of a sudden it was slammed across the kitchen with such a force that it sounded like someone literally slammed it onto the floor with all their might. I put it back in the same position and tried to mimick it - the way it moved - the way it slammed - nothing came close to the way it did it on it's own the first time. I can't explain how it happened. It didn't fall. It wasn't gravity. I made sure. I told whatever it is that's in my apartment to leave us alone the night before this happened, and this was totally directed at me. Nothing's happened since, but if stuff gets more violent and even worse than it is now then I'm gonna have to have a serious talk withmy husband about moving. He agreed that he doesn't want to stay here if whatever's in the house is malicious. If it wants to hurt us I'm sure it'll show us that we're not welcome, and we'll go. I hate living in this small place anyways. I've hated it since before moving in, but it's the cheapest place we've found that's close to his university. Everywhere else is at LEAST $800 more because it isn't school housing. There's no way to look up if there's been a death in this apartment or this building, and the housing office will not disclose any information about previous tennants. I'm worried this ghost or whatever it is will start doing stuff more often and more violently. I'm not a paranoid little girl who runs away and hides when the wind blows through my apartment and a paper moves. I'm an adult, I know when something is caused by something natural and something unnatural.
So the things left that I can't explain are these: the milk jug (we don't have bugs or mice, and no drafts), the napkin floating, and the high chair tray slamming to the ground.
