Macronutrients?

Brittany
Can someone explain macronutrients to me? I understand that the body needs a large amount of them but that's about it. I just started working out (fat loss and light weight training) at home and so far I think I'm doing well but I keep trying to learn more about fitness everyday so any help is appreciated :)

The macros are confusing for me too. I got the 21 day fix containers and use those instead. No counting at all. I just put my food in the containers to measure throughout the day. I am very visual so it works for me. I can measure something and know how much I have left for the day. I highly recommend them! I am down 30 lbs.

My daily goal is 4 cups veggies, 3 cups fruit for protein it is 4 servings of 3/4 cup or 4-6 oz servings, for carbs 3 1/2 cup servings. I do not measure healthy fats/nuts/cheese

I think that is a great idea too. I didnt want to measure anything but it really helped me. I eat a lot more food than I used to. By measuring with the containers it showed me that I could eat a lot more fruits and veggies than I thought.

I thought about just going on the paleo diet adding in milk and cheese so I don't have to count anything

I use my fitness pal app to track them, you put your goal weight, your current weight and have to log every meal and snack. They give you a ballpark of protein, fat, carbs, sugars, sodium intake you need daily to get to your goal. I usually eat more protein than it says there, but it's up to you.
