Did the age gap you wanted with kids change after you had them?

I really want to wait until my first child is 4-5 before we try to TTC again, but I know some people decide to have kids again earlier, and then it ends up harder on them because of taking care of children so small! Did having kids change your mind on how long or short you wanted your kid's age gaps to be?
