Fetal Doppler

I bought a fetal Doppler to use it at home. Has anyone used one before? I told my husband I will try it tomorrow when he gets home so we can do it together but he thinks it might not be safe for the baby. I said it's kind of the same thing they use at the Dr. office just no image. Any advice on this...
