What are some 1st time home buyer program with a fair credit score in NC?

I just thought I'd ask... I know this is a TTC & pregnancy app.. But just looking for some help?

Each state has different laws and different programs but they are usually available if you don't have 20% to put down on a house. Keep in mind that if you don't have 20% down payment you will have to pay mortgage insurance until you've paid up to the 20%. I don't think it's fair but it's a way for banks to make money off of you in case you default on the loan.

I live in Illinois. We were prequalified for the first time homebuyers loan and ended o getting denied in the last process of the grant. Our credit was borderline and our lender NEVER indicted to us that we would lose the grant until it happened. Needless to say it very much changed our closing process. Our loan was still approved, but it took us much more cash out of pocket.

My husband and I don't have fabulous credit . It's not poor either .  It's fair to decent .  We just applied for a normal home loan and we were approved .  I was so surprised! It's for a decent amount as well!
