What do I tell them??
I really just wanted to express my disgust at the educational system here in good old "multicultural" Canada.
Okay okay maybe disgusted is a bit harsh, but I am just frustrated that multicultural has become more "multi" than cultural. My son is NOT allowed to say Merry Christmas as it offends the parents of the children that don't celebrate Christmas. Okay...that's fucked. Oh but it gets better. My son is NOT allowed to say Happy Halloween or dress up at all as it offends the parents of the children that don't celebrate Halloween. ..ummmm wait...what?? I as a parent go as far as getting valentines days cards and treats, for EVERY student I might add. St . Patrick day, Canada day, birthdays, teachers days....Every fucken stupid little holiday we celebrate in this fine country....I as a parent provide my children the means to be social and not discriminate or be prejudice against anyone.
Though at this point I guess it sounds like I am....I'm sincerely not.
I just have a hard time having to explain why "he can't say that" at school but can at home. When I don't believe it's right myself.
Hate on it or don't...it's happening either way...I just need to verbally vomit sometimes.
