IUI or directly to IVF?

Question

I'm 37 years old, and have a 3 year old son. I've been trying to get pregnant for 1.5 years (femera, trigger shot, progesterone). I've had 2 miscarriages within those 1.5 years. The doc would like me to start injectables/IUI but am wondering if I should go straight to IVF. I'm so over wasting time 😥

I'm an Andrologist at a fertility clinic and IUIs have roughly 20% success rate per cycle. A lot of people get pregnant within their first 3 tries. IUIs are less expensive and less invasive than IVF so that's why Drs will try that first unless the initial work up points to something more serious (like very low sperm count) that would make them try IVF right off the bat. I completely understand you wanting to try the treatment with the higher % success first, but you might be one of the ones that gets pregnant on their first IUI! Best of luck to you!
