Anyone else against getting birth control?

I've taken three types of birth control. Pill, ring, and shot. Each one never worked for me or left me bleeding ALL MONTH. I'm 20, in college, and I don't want a child but I find birth control so unnatural and I've heard some horror stories. My mom and my gynecologist want me on birth control but I just won't. I use condoms and the pull out method.

As someone who had a stroke from being on the pill, I totally understand be afraid of the side effects. Birth control isn't for everyone...

I'm against the longer term forms of birth control with high risks of sideaffects like the shot and the IUD. I like the idea of the patch and the pill because there are many different kinds and you can stop if it isn't going well.

I have paragaurd cuz I was tired of having added hormones in my body. You should definitely think about getting that. It didn't hurt that bad to insert and it's pretty reliable, though me and my bf still use condoms just to be safe. The pull out method is not effective and sometimes not even plan b and if you don't want the possibility of becoming pregnant, using condoms as well as BC is the best way to go. Good luck.

I've heard some nightmare stories myself and I don't want to put myself through any weight gain, mood swings or acne breakouts. Using condoms/pull out method works for me for the time being.

I do now. Just simply because I've tried many different kinds and always have had bad experiences. I'm currently getting over the shot. I will no longer take any more birth control..ever! I've been on it for about 5 years and it's always been horrible. This time around has been the worst with the shot. I get depressed, wierd mood swings, very long periods, tired all the time. I just can't wait till it's out of my body.  I'm married now so having a baby would be awesome but we'll still be using condoms and if it happens then it happens. But I'm with you.

I'm actually against it I'm 19 and in college and I took the depo provera shot, my gynecologist highly recommend it since I refused the IUD. I go to college in a rough neighborhood so I really don't want to risk the chance of pregnancy if Lord Forbid I ever got raped, I had sex with my fiancé one night after receiving the injection two months prior and after that I was miserable my moods were so off I couldn't concentrate and that didn't help with my school work additionally I started having pregnancy symptoms I wasn't pregnant but I was experiencing phantom pregnancy. Granted the shot worked but after all that trouble and me practically losing my mind. I just stoped using it and my fiancé and I now just practice abstinence. It's hard but it's worth it.

I think that altering your body's chemistry for so long has the potential to be pretty damaging to your future health. My husband and I have one child and we aren't looking to have anymore any time soon, but I believe that I owe it to my future self to stay as healthy as possible naturally. It works really well for us to track my cycle and use condoms. We always use condoms and avoid having sex when I'm fertile. I know it's not always ideal and maybe if you aren't with one consistent partner who is okay with that it might be more difficult, but there is nothing wrong with choosing to stay off of birth control. I've tried depo, NuvaRing, countless pill brands, and even the Skyla IUD approved for women who have not had children. EVERY ONE WAS MISERY. Especially my IUD. Constant pain, I would pass out any time I tried to exercise or ride my horses (which was a daily thing prior to my IUD) and it made my hair fall out in huge clumps. Still struggling with that since I had very long hair and had to cut it to blend. Passed out twice from the pain of insertion and got wheelchaired to a family members caronce I was back to normal color. Fast forward, and I am now in a very serious relationship and not using any hormonal birth control, but we are also hoping for children in the near future. My body is finally getting back to normal, and my hair is (slowly...) growing back. No more emotional distress, acne, pain, passing out, or hair loss. I HATED all birth control that I tried. Do what's best for YOU.
