Do you have to have ALL names the same to make a Junior?

My SO has three first names, but he only goes with one first name on everything (bills, jobs, etc). If we have a boy would the baby have to have all three first names to be a junior or do you think using the main first name would be good enough? I really want to know what you think personally, not just whatever makes me happy because we'll end up doing that anyway. 😂 I'm just curious how other people feel about it. Our friend told us that we would have to use all three otherwise they wouldn't consider him a junior. We never even thought about it until they said that to us because my SO ALWAYS goes by that one name. So is that normal... what do you think?

For him to be a junior the names have to be exact. My FIL is a junior and one of my brother in laws shares only his first name so he's not considered a III/3rd

My husband has 2 middle names, one of which he hates. If we have a boy we're just doing "Jason Abraham" and leaving off the 3rd name, but he will still be a junior. I didn't think it mattered and honestly I couldn't care less if someone said it did.

To the ones that say they have to exact is that what you've been told legally or is it just what you believe? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to figure it out so I know for the future. If it's what you've been told legally, please explain.

Jr is used on documents to distinguish between the JR and SR. If the names are exactly the same then the Jr part is just unnecessary but I don't know why you couldn't use it.

Technically the names have to be exact. My husband is William Kyle and his did is William Robert. He isn't a junior, bc the names are different. If my husband had also been William Robert, he'd have the JR after his name.

No my son Bobby is named after dad and grandpa and has both their middle names....and is still a jr
