how soon is too soon to travel?

So my son is due to arrive June 6th... we are wondering if taking a trip the first or second week of august is too soon. We would be driving about 10 hrs, renting a house with family.. I'm just wondering if we should sit this vacation out.. any suggestions?

I wouldn't make plans that soon. 
You never know how labor will go. You could end up with a. C section and sitting for that long will kill you.

I would say skip this vacay .. only because he won't have any of his vaccines yet to help with certain viruses and diseases.. so it's best to keep him home for awhile..

I'm getting induced May 29th & moving from Texas to Ohio (18 hour drive) June 19th. We plan on stopping half way and staying in a hotel and doing the other half the next day. I've been worrying about it but the military doesn't give us any other options unfortunately.

If your doctor has nobproblem with it I would go for it. I am stationed in Japan with my husband and I will be traveling back and forth from Japan to the US quite often as soon as doctor approves it and we plan to do it really early.

My cousin got the ok to travel after her daughter turned a week old. And when my son was 2 months old I made a 8hr drive to move across the states.

You can always check with your pediatrician they can give you the ok.

My oldest sons first trip was an 18hr road trip when he was six weeks old. It went great he slept most of the way and we made frequent stops to feed, diapers change, and just to have him out of the car seat

Definitely depends on your birth experience and your baby. My SIL would absolutely have gone, and be able to. Me, not so much. My daughter HATED the car and screamed 24/7. There's no way I would have been able to manage it.

It sounds like its just over two months so assuming your babe has had their vaccines, would you consider flying? A 10 hour drive is a looong time in a carseat for the baby, and also a really long time stuck in a car for you when you're still recovering.

And if not fly, could you convince the other people to choose a destination closer to home for you guys?

I don't think it's impossible to go somewhere that soon but I'd be concerned with the drive.
