A good thing to know... (About teaching to walk)
During my pregnancy, I had SPD. It started in my second trimester (really early) and for the rest of my pregnancy I was in excruciating pain. Now that my daughter is two months old I finally got approved with my insurance for physical therapy. The physical therapist told me that my issue is hereditary (extra loose ligaments). My right hip is tilted forward and my left hip is tilted back. My lower spine is twisted out of place and my tailbone is tilted to my right which is pinching nerves and ligaments. The tailbone issue makes any sitting impossible to do without pain. He said that my pregnancy made things worse because my body was releasing the hormone called relaxin. It caused all of my ligaments to loosen way too much and my bones to move all out of place.
The other day, my physical therapist told me to "NEVER encourage a child to walk early" (before one year old). Actually, he said that when the body is ready, it will walk without a problem but encouraging a body to walk before it is ready does lots of skeletal damage. I am one of those "early walkers" because my older sister taught me to walk way too early. I'm suffering for it now. Had I not been told this, I would have assumed that teaching a kid to walk early was a good thing. I'm so glad he informed me and I hope this info helps you as well.
