Birth Story

Kiersten
At one in the morning I got up to go to the bathroom and my water broke while I was on the toilet. I wasn't completely convinced that it really broke so I wanted to wait until the morning because I wasn't having contractions. I got up at six in the morning and started getting ready. While I was getting ready I felt a large gush and knew for sure my water had broken. We headed to the hospital from there and they admitted me around 11 after a test to determine my water really had broken.  I wasn't technically in labor because I was only dilated to one and having mild contractions. They started me on pitocin and the baby didn't like it and her heart rate dropped to about 60-80 for six minutes. They started getting me ready to do a c section and were just waiting for my doctor wheb her heart rate came back up.  They were worried they would have to do a c section quickly so they hurried and gave me an epidural just in case. Her heart rate dropped again really low after the epidural And my blood pressure as well. They almost took me for a c section again but her heart rate came back a second time . Afterwards they monitored me closely and tried pitocin really slowly. Every time it was on her heart would drop so they said they didn't have any more time to waste and did a c section right then. I was so scared but I'm grateful I could look to my husband for support. He was so calm in the midst of chaos and I couldn't have done it without him. She was born at three twenty six in the afternoon and eight pounds six ounces and twenty one inches. She's adorable and squishy. I'm still in the hospital healing and I can't wait to get out and start feeling like myself again.
