Genetic testing

Amy • My first pregnancy!

Due to a family history of ovarian cancer, my obgyn recommended that i get genetic testing. I just had my first baby 4 months ago and am 25 years old. Of course I asked him what he would recommend if it came back positive. He recommended that if I wanted more kids to have them now then get a total hysterectomy.

I have seen firsthand the struggles of ovarian cancer. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. I agree that if I come back positive I should have the surgery. I'm struggling because I'm just not ready for more kids yet- but I definitely want them. I also am not ready to be thrown into menopause in my twenties (happens after everything's removed).

I know I'm jumping the gun here.... the tests could come back negative. It just makes me think.
