Whats the difference between being depressed and just hating life?

My experience with depression is that one day you could be so happy, motivated, and going about your day without any bumps in the road. Being carefree. Then, you suddenly begin to feel less of the happiness and motivation and everything you do can set you off... you start to feel everything, but nothing at the same time. You put up a front in public because you don't feel like being asked "what's wrong" a million times because you honestly do not know how to describe what you're feeling, but once you get home all you want to do is cry yourself to sleep because you don't know what you're experiencing will ever go away... Depression is when you know your loved ones are helping you and standing by you, but you feel that everything you do for them is wrong or that they are annoyed by your presence. 
Hating life is much more simple because you just feel anger towards everything and you can change your mindset.
Depression is a complex thing that tortures you until you can't handle it anymore or you decide to get help.

depression is a serious illness. there are so many things that factor into it instead of just hating life or being sad. 
and hating life, it's like a bump in the road. sad for a short amount of time.
