Would you be annoyed??

Question

My inlaws live in a different state & I do my best to keep them connected to our 8 month old son. I FaceTime with them 3-6 times a week since his birth. A couple weeks ago my husband got fired from his job & as you can imagine it's been stressful. I've called them once since it happened due to stress & not feeling up to conversing. My mother in law texts my husband saying I haven't been calling blah blah blah.. So I finally call today & she tells the baby "do you even recognize me? Do you remember me it's been so long?" in an extremely passive aggressive tone. Like wtf..? 
Would you be bothered by this?

Why don't they just call you? Why do they have to wait for you to call?

I hate how its ur fault and u r the bad guy. Why couldn't her son call? Its his mother after all. ...ungrateful so and so.

Omg my mom is like this and always has been. I swear every time I call the first thing she says is "what a miracle that you remembered your mother" and I try to call her at least once a week -.- but it really makes it hard to actually want to talk to her. I try to just ignore it

I get this all the time from my husbands grandparents. It's annoying. I do my best to ignore it. 😏 passive aggressive is the worst.

I would be very annoyed! 
It's not your responsibility and she should be thankful!!! I wouldn't bother doing that at all.
And your husband should do it not that he's home, I understand how hard it must be for both of you that he's out of a job, but maybe it will make him feel better and even forget about it for a little if he is the one getting to FT with his mom.

I would start by FT less and less.. maybe she will then appreciate your effort

My in laws overstepped everything from the beginning. I decided that any info/ pics/ calls will be from their son. It's not my job!

I mean she shouldn't expect it.  I try to send my in laws daily pics,  but sometimes I go days without doing it if we've been busy, or having a tough time.  I'd be annoyed if they ever said anything like that.

Yeah my in laws were pulling that shit in the beginning. Complaining if they went more than a few days without seeing him. "Oh. Maybe next time I'll get to see him before 9 days..." 🙄 we don't talk to them anymore for other reasons but man that's stuff pissed me off

I don't call my inlaws at all. They suck. Sorry but true. My husband and I have been together 11 years. Married for 4. My FIL didn't even really speak with me until my hubs and I were married and my MIL didn't want anything to do with me until I had our baby in August so I refuse to speak with her. It's so nice of you that you were calling so often, so she should be greatful that you did!!
