Rubbing myself too much?

I was rubbing myself and my major labia's inner side started to hurt and when i looked at it, it was red. and hurt every time i touched it. Did I just rub too much?

Yea unfortunately without lubrication (both natural or tube based) friction will occur and cause irritation to the skin. Nothing is wrong with what you're doing, maybe figure out ways to pleasure ones self and avoiding irritation. Best way to do that, is make sure you aren't rubbing through your undies, the materials can cause chaffing and irritation, look into adding lube, if you aren't wet enough yourself, try vibrators, even small bullet or massagers, the vibrations feel better than rubbing. As for taking care of irritated skin, a cold shower, peeing after sexual activity (including self pleasure), an ice pack directly on the irritated skin will help with pain and swelling. Thin underwear helps me when I'm feeling particularly sensitive.

Probably. It happens if you weren't wet enough or didn't have enough lube. Or if you were being to rough, or self pleasing too frequently. Basically, friction caused a mild/minor case of chaffing or irritation.  A cool wash cloth on it should help relieve the heat and tenderness, along with any swelling and/or stinging.
